MUSICIANS NEEDED
To form an experimental pop/rock orchestra for live shows, recording, general world domination.
We are looking for people who play drums, bass, keys, flute, sax, clarinet, trumpet, oboe, or trombone. We also need someone to run all the loops and samples that go with each song. If an instrument you play is not named, feel free to email anyways. Ideas are formed, but not set in stone.
Regardless of your instrument, a professional attitude is required, as is making music a first priority. Not everyone needs transportation, if CTA is logical, or if people carpool.
Influences include Burt Bacharach, Curtis Mayfield, Bjork, Garbage, and Aerosmith, whose work will have equal input on our sound, along with people like U2, The Beach Boys, Portishead, David Bowie, both Elvis-es (Costello & Presley), Prince, the Beatles, everyone on the Motown label, and other "strange" pop artists whose work expands the definition of pop music, I. E. , not formulaic pop singers like Spears, Lavigne, etc.

First, and foremost, we really want to stress the EGO thing. Not thinking or saying you personally have one, I dont know, but it is our priority number one, to quash any possibilities, due to past bad experiences. We are out to have fun, that's the overall goal, and will remain that way. Been there , and we wont do that again. . . So, with that outta the way, we refer to our band as 'Neverwas'. . (Thought you may want to know the name).
Secondly, need to know your availabilityies. . . We typically get together on Sunday,. . mornings at 12:30pm, and one day during the week in the evening at 5:30pm (Based on schedules flexing, this day is agreed on by all, at each Sunday practice) at my house, in Aurora, off of Sullivan and Randall rd. , (the nice area). Where do you live?
Also, if you are the one we are looking for, and us to you the same, what are your responsibilities as far as your availability. . . In other words, do you, or will yo be going out of town during the week (?). . . How flexible are you, and how far in advance will you be able to let us know?. . No problem(s) either way, as we are all flexible to a point, but would like to keep said schedule intact. Are you married? Children?
We are also very open minded to different types of music. That's where the TEAM thing is very important to us as well. Other than, RAP, most Country, and Disco are out. . . Especialy Disco. We listen to each other, and decide what to play with each other. I'm sure you catch my drift there. There is no 'leader' here,. . . neverwas.
We have experienced live performance quite a few times, as well as studio, (mentioned in ad), . . . But, consider ourselves amature, as this is not a full time thing. At this point, we want you to know, that the future is open, and anything is possible, but we are not striving for that commitment right now. That takes time, practice, unity, and dedication, so we will cross that bridge when, and if we do. Let me know if you have any issues with that. We are also cigarette smokers, . . . so if this bothers you, also let me know now.
As far as stresses are concerned, we all have easy goin personalities, and really get along. What you (I, we, etc), do on your (our) own time is up to the individual, and cool, but do to time constraints, and primarily past experiences, we are here to rehearse while having fun, without influences,. . .
Nothing serious people, but like I said, we want you and your talent, not something the dope man can create,. . . We get things done that way. Remember, we are all in our later thirties, and have been there, and - done that. Our band is more about playing together for a UNIQUE style, therefore, doing covers, yet with a bit of our own style, like a re-mix quality.
